Use Exercise Balls For Many Exercises
Maybe you have used exercise balls and maybe you haven't, but they have been in use for quite a long time by everyday exercise enthusiasts as well as professional sports teams. So how can you incorporate these workout balls into your exercising routines?
The first thing you will notice about them is they are very simplistic and easy to use, but that doesn't mean they are ineffective. This workout equipment requires a basic approach as there are no fancy bells and whistles attached, and no special skills needed to use one. As a matter of fact, exercise balls are a great tool to both build stamina and strength simultaneously throughout the middle of your body. This in turn will help the back and abdominal muscles become stronger and better toned.
Selecting The Right Exercise Ball
To select the right workout ball you will need to take into account your own physical attributes and more specifically your height. First you need to sit on the ball itself making sure that your hips are level with your knees, or at least as level as you can get them. You want your hips to be either level or slightly higher than your knees, and if this is not the case the workout ball is too small. Try moving up a size until you get the right one. You want to make sure you get the maximum benefits from exercising with it and this is only possible with the correct size. Once you are on the ball for the first time you may think it cannot support your weight but most of these exercise balls can hold several hundred pounds without a problem. If you are unsure, check with the manufacturer on the specifications of your ball.
The real magic of any exercise ball is by teaching yourself to remain on it while lying over it. The first thing you will need to do is develop your balance which will come in time. This in turn will make your abdominal and leg muscles contract as your body works to stay firmly intact on the ball. After you are comfortable just remaining on the ball you can start to add some exercises and maybe even weights to the mix. Try a crunch or two to see how that feels. Over time your muscles will become stronger and you will find yourself not struggling at all using one. Exercise balls can really strengthen many areas of your body.
They are fun to use and quite simple to master, with some practice of course. Exercise balls are one piece of equipment that is somewhat overlooked by people but can really give you some benefits. Try one out at your local sporting goods store to see how much fun you can have.
